Our initiative, categorized under Safety Workshops and Training, is centered on fostering a high-level culture of disaster preparedness through immersive, experiential learning. Conducted at the Sivas Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate’s Awareness Center, the core idea was to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-life application. The program’s main focus points included the hands-on inspection of 18 disaster simulators and educational panels, which allowed participants to experience the physical effects of disasters in a controlled environment, alongside practical training on assembling emergency kits and mastering "during-disaster" protocols. What makes this initiative truly unique is its human-centric approach to education; the training was led by AFAD personnel who are earthquake survivors themselves. By integrating their authentic, firsthand survival stories and emotional insights with technical safety instructions, the initiative transcends traditional training, providing a profoundly impactful learning experience that emphasizes the human reality and urgency of disaster readiness.
