The "Waste Collection Event and Recycled Mirror Workshop" organized by ESN Cumhuriyet was a multifaceted sustainability initiative that merged environmental activism with creative upcycling and community building. Primarily categorized as a nature-focused handicraft activity, the main idea was to demonstrate that environmental stewardship can be both practical and artistic. The event began with 14 participants gathering in the Erasmus Office garden to collect cigarette butts, paper, and plastic waste, directly improving the local ecosystem. However, the initiative went beyond a simple cleanup by transitioning into a creative workshop where the collected plastic bottle caps were repurposed and painted in vibrant ESN colors to construct a unique mirror frame. To further instill a sense of belonging, "ESN Cumhuriyet" was inscribed inside the mirror, and fallen pine cones were collected and painted to serve as sustainable office decor. The initiative’s main focus points were centered on promoting European environmental values, such as the circular economy and the "zero waste" philosophy, while fostering a strong sense of local community responsibility. What makes this project truly unique is its ability to transform literal litter into lasting symbols of organizational identity; by turning discarded materials into functional office art, ESN Cumhuriyet created a tangible legacy that serves as a daily reminder of their commitment to the planet. This blend of environmental cleaning, branding, and artistic expression provided a holistic experience that empowered participants to see "waste" as a valuable resource for innovation.
